About Us

With so much travel jargon being tossed around these days – if it’s not ecotourism, it’s voluntourism or humanitourism – your holiday might start feeling less like a holiday than a school outing. We at A World Different want you, first and foremost, to have a great time, wherever you go. But we’d also like you to spend a few moments thinking about this: What happens to the place I’ve just been to after I leave it?

Consider, then, the properties we include in A World Different. These lodges, hotels, resorts, and camps around the globe care about the impact they make, and they have tirelessly – sometimes for decades even – been saving their little part of the world. By simply visiting them you will be helping the surrounding land and communities. caren

Ted Botha and Caren Banks, after many years of traveling the world, have noticed those people and properties that give the travel industry a good name by caring about the impact they make on the environment – whether it is at a small, out-of-the-way resort in the Pacific or at a five-star lodge in Botswana. More often than not, however, these properties don’t get the kind of publicity they deserve.

We hope this might encourage you to travel with a little more heart and a lot more confidence in order to be rewarded with A World Different.
