<p>Once more this year on the Dutch Caribbean island of <a href="http://www.sabatourism.com" target="_blank"><strong>Saba</strong></a>, the non-profit foundation <strong><a href="http://www.seaandlearn.org/" target="_blank">Sea &amp; Learn</a></strong> will be putting on a fabulous learning program in the slower month of  October. It will focus on environmental issues, particularly those important  to the island.</p>
<p>The event brings to the island a variety of<strong> naturalists, scientists, and academics</strong> in fields ranging from sharks and dolphins to bats and orchids. Besides  nightly presentations, participants can join field and research  projects or assist in nature surveys. <strong>All events are free.</strong></p>

<p>Not only are the events beneficial to the schools, locals, and  after-school programs, but it brings business to the hotels,  restaurants, and shops when traditionally there&#8217;s hardly anyone visiting  this Caribbean island.  The restaurants get creative by putting  together special menus at <strong>great prices. </strong>Good idea!<strong><br />
</strong></p>
<p>This year&#8217;s <strong><a href="http://www.seaandlearn.org/2009CalendarOfEvents.htm" target="_blank">events</a></strong> include &#8220;The complex patterns of fish sex changes&#8221; by Graham Forrester, &#8220;What&#8217;s Rumbling with Caribbean Earthquakes&#8221; by Rod Stewart,  and &#8220;Where&#8217;s the Fish?&#8221; by Matt Potensky, a shark researcher who explains the dynamics of removing the top predator in our oceans.</p>
